How to Introduce Meow Mews Kits to Your Cats
Introducing a new structure into your home can be exciting for you, but your cat may need time to adjust. Every cat has a unique personality, comfort level, and pace. The steps below will help your cat build trust and curiosity toward their new Meow Mews kit in a natural, stress-free way.
1. Remember: Every Cat Is Different
You know your cat better than anyone. Some cats approach new objects with confidence. Others need time and space. Both behaviors are normal.
-
A single cat may be more cautious or suspicious.
-
Multi-cat homes often adapt faster because one cat leads and others follow.
-
Some cats take time to explore new materials, textures, and scents.
There is no “wrong” pace. Let them set it.
2. Never Force Interaction
Do not place your cat on the structure or push it toward the structure. Trust must come from their own curiosity. Cats gain confidence by observing, sniffing, and testing stability at their own pace.
3. Start With the Box
Cats love boxes. Use that to your advantage.
-
Leave the unopened box in a reachable area for a day or two (hard for us- humans, works better for them)
-
Let your cats inspect it, mark it, and get familiar with the new scent.
-
When they show interest, open it and let them explore the parts on the floor.
4. Let Them Explore the Parts First
Before assembly:
-
Lay out the platforms, columns, and components.
-
Let your cats walk around them, sniff them, and claim them.
-
This helps them recognize the structure as something that belongs to them.
-
If you prefer a slower introduction and have the patience for it, you can assemble one section per day. This gives your cats time to get familiar with each part as it becomes part of their environment.
5. Assemble the Kit and Do a Safety Check
Follow the official assembly instructions at

After assembly:
-
Check that all dowels, columns, and platforms are tight and secure.
-
Test stability with your hands before letting your cat climb.
6. Let Your Cat Test the Structure Naturally
Place the structure in a quiet, comfortable spot that your cat already claims. They recognize “their” areas and will explore new things placed there.
Let them climb when ready. No cheering, no pressure. Calm, neutral energy helps them build trust.
7. Use Treats or Toys as Gentle Encouragement
If your cat needs motivation:
-
Place a few dry treats on the lower levels.
-
Gradually place treats on higher platforms as they gain confidence.
-
You can also use toys, dangling play, or light scent-based enrichment.
-
Before placing any food or treats, wipe surfaces to remove dust or packaging residue.
Do not lure them forcefully. Treats should be an invitation, not a push.
8. Give It Time
Some cats jump on the structure within minutes. Others take a week or two. Both are normal.
The key is patience:
-
No rushing
-
No forcing
-
No fear-based or excitement-based reactions
Let them build a personal relationship with the product at their own pace.
