Materials & Care

As pet owners ourselves, we designed the components to maintain a hairless, dust and allergen free environment.

Polymer Components (3D-Printed Parts)

Material: Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG)

Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft cloth or damp microfiber towel.

  • Use mild soap and lukewarm water when needed.

  • Dry fully before allowing pets to use the structure.

Do Not

  • Do not use acetone, bleach, or any harsh chemicals.

  • Do not expose to direct heat sources, radiators, fireplaces, or prolonged sunlight.

  • Do not bend or apply force to any polymer part.

  • Do not store or use in temperatures above 120°F (50°C) or below 32°F (0°C).

Ropes (Cotton or PETG-End Roping System)

Material: Braided cotton rope with synthetic core, PETG-End Roping System

Cleaning

  • Vacuum with a handheld vacuum or brush attachment.

  • Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.

  • Allow the area to dry completely before use.

Maintenance

  • Replace ropes when heavily worn, frayed, or dirty.

  • Use the Meow Mews rope ends when re-roping.

Do Not

  • Do not soak ropes in water.

  • Do not use chemical cleaners, oxidizers, or bleach.

  • Do not allow pets to chew loose fibers. Replace immediately.

 

Exposed Wooden Elements

Material: U.S. Ethically sourced wood

Cleaning

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth.

  • Use only mild soap if necessary, then dry immediately.

Maintenance

  • Wood dowels are pre-coated with pet-safe varnish and require no additional treatment.

Do Not

  • Do not submerge wood in water.

  • Do not leave in humid rooms or near steam sources.

  • Do not use oils, furniture polish, or abrasives on wood.

Wool Canopies & Soft Accessories

Material: 100% Handmade Sheep wool (New Zealand, Nepal)

Cleaning

  • Shake outdoors to remove dust and hair.

  • Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment.

  • Spot clean using cold water and mild wool-safe soap.

  • Air dry completely; do not use heat.

Do Not

  • Do not machine wash or machine dry.

  • Do not wring, twist, or stretch wool fabrics.

  • Do not expose wool to direct heat or sunlight for prolonged periods.

 

General Care and What Not to Do (Applies to All Components)

Do Not

  • Do not exceed the maximum weight limit of 30 lbs (13.6 kg) per section.
    Do not allow children to climb, sit, or hang from the structure

  • Do not place the structure on uneven, inclined, or unstable surfaces.

  • Do not modify, drill, cut, or alter any part of the kit.

  • Do not remove or unscrew metal screws embedded in bases or resters.

  • Do not use outdoor environments, damp basements, or near heat sources.

  • Do not force components during assembly; adjust instead.

Do

  • Place at least 3 inches (8 cm) from walls to prevent friction and marks.

  • Retighten dowels as needed, firm, never forced.

  • Inspect regularly for wear or damage and replace compromised parts.

  • Keep away from pets who chew non-food objects.

  • Follow all assembly and placement instructions carefully.
